After a year of rebuilding following Hurricane Helene, the Hickory Nut Gorge Olympiad is proud to return in 2026 with a renewed purpose — The Run for Recovery, August 14–16. In addition to the races, the weekend will also feature a Golf Tournament at Rumbling Bald Resort, bringing athletes, families, and the community together to celebrate resilience, connection, and progress.
The triathlon and cycling events will pause this year, reflecting the race committees commitment to doing things right. The Olympiad Board wants to be fully confident that the lake, Lake Lure, and all supporting routes are completely restored and operating smoothly before welcoming athletes and families back for large-scale, multi-course events. We know participants plan well in advance, and we want everyone to do so with confidence.
